The Photinia Red Robin is a favorite evergreen shrub admired for its new leaves in red color, thus making the garden vivid. Its height at maturity comes to around (Approx 120cm – 140cm) which can easily be managed between 1 to 4 meters making it ideal for hedging or even as a stand-alone. The highlights of the year-round appeal are the deep green leaves and in spring and early summer, the new shoots are bright red in color.
This plant grows in different types of soils, such as normal, clay, or chalky, and can be found in full sun to semi shade positions. Whether your garden is inland or in an exposed location, Photinia Red Robin leaves are hardy and adaptable. You can count on steady growth with average rates of growth between 20-40 cm every year. For the best impact with regards to growth, spacing should be approximately 2-3 per meter.
